Getting Started

Everyone’s tutoring needs are different. To make sure that I can offer you the help that you need, I usually start by arranging a visit to you at your home. For students living with parents or carers, this is an ideal chance to meet with everyone and make sure that we are all happy with the arrangements we come to. The topics we can discuss include general points (why are you considering tutoring? What would you like to get out of the experience?) and more practical issues (which exam board are you studying? If studying further mathematics, which options are you taking?). There is no charge for this first meeting.

If we are all happy to proceed, we can discuss the timing and frequency of tutoring sessions.

Subjects of Study

A Level Mathematics: I can help with all topics from the full A level maths course, both pure and applied, for all major exam boards.

A Level Further Mathematics: I can help immediately with the majority of topics from the A level further maths course, including all of the core pure content, and most of the mechanics, statistics, decision and additional pure content. There are so many options that can go towards a further maths qualification that I want to be sure that I can offer you the exact help that you need, so please let me know your exact requirements. I can probably help straight away, but for the handful of topics that I have not taught recently, I may need a little notice.

Physics: I can help immediately with the vast majority of content from all exam boards. AQA offer several in-depth options as part of the second year of the course, of which I am most familiar with Turning Points in Physics – other options will require a little notice.

Location

Tutoring sessions can take place at your home or some mutually agreeable location such as a coffee shop or library. You can also visit my home near to Hove cricket ground for sessions ending before 5.00 pm.

Online Tutoring

I tutor online via Zoom – don’t worry if you have not used it before, it is quick and easy to install and I can help you set it up. There is no need for us to be local to one another to communicate online, so students from any location are welcome to enquire about this.

Fees

An hour tutoring session costs £40. The first hour session we have is free, so that you can be sure that I am the right tutor for you without going to great expense.
